Since 2018, CODATA has been exploring with partners a number of cross-domain case studies in the area of infectious diseases, including those examined in the 2018 and 2019 Dagstuhl Workshops.
Since 2020, CODATA has been a partner with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) on the INSPIRE project, which combines demographic health data and clinical data, principally in relation to HIV then in relation to COVID. A case study was included in the Report on ‘The Role of DDI-CDI in EOSC: Possible Uses and Applications’; the project was presented at the FAIR Convergence Symposium and at Virtual SciDataCon 2021.
The reports on INSPIRE Data Hub: Technical Results of Phase 1 are now available.
INSPIRE-PEACH continues this work more fully in the direction of COVID, adding genomic data to the mix. Key technical components include OMOP and related vocabularies, DDI-CDI, and the work done by VODAN on the WHO COVID reporting form. It is hoped that this will become a major case study in combining data and will allow links with related work in Europe and elsewhere.
