Through a workshop organised with CODATA support and hosted at ICSU and a series of working meetings at the General 26th General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), the Task Group on Earth and Space Science Data Interoperability has launched its work to develop a second edition of the Atlas of the Earth’s Magnetic Field.
The first edition of the Atlas, published in 2013, is a unique cartographic product that contains comprehensive and scientifically grounded characteristics of geomagnetic phenomenon, and contains the results of historical and modern studies of the Earth’s magnetic field. As such it is of interest and use to a wide range of scientists. The Second Edition will considerably extend the chronological and geographical scope of the Atlas integrating a range of new data.
