The third webinar of the new DDI Alliance / CODATA Training Webinar series took place on 2 September 2021.

The DDI Cross Domain Integration (DDI-CDI) standard will soon be released by the DDI Alliance as the latest in its series of metadata specifications. DDI-CDI is intended to enhance the use of other domain specifications or to function as a stand-alone metadata record to assist in the combined use of data from disparate sources and of different structures. It supports machine-actionable discovery and processing of data at a granular level to help systems scale to meet the growing demands for data in modern research projects.

This webinar provides a general introduction to the specification, using cross-domain data integration examples and showing how DDI-CDI, in combination with other standards, can facilitate the integration of disparate data. The automated aspects of FAIR data reuse across different sources is demonstrated, based on the granular description provided by DDI-CDI working in combination with existing metadata.

Speakers:

  1. Marta Limmert, Statistics Estonia
  2. Arofan Gregory, Consultant, DDI Alliance / CODATA
  3. Flavio Rizzolo, University of Toronto / Statistics Canada
  4. Simon Hodson, CODATA
