As previously announced, the CODATA-ICSTI Task Group on Data Citation Standards and Practices is organising an International Series of Workshops to Implement Data Citation Principles. The objective of this series is to promote the implementation of data citation principles in the research policy and funding communities throughout the world. The first of these workshops was held on Tuesday 25 August in Lan Zhou, China, co-located with the Second National Scientific Data Conference.
Task Group co-chair, Christine Borgman, Distinguished Professor & Presidential Chair in Information Studies, UCLA, gave the introductory keynote setting the scene for the discussions. Christine’s presentation, ‘Data Citation and Scholarship’, is available from her UCLA bepress site.
The workshop surveyed current practice of data citation in China and among stakeholders including publishers and data centres. Reports from all the workshops, providing a survey of data citation practices and agreements for implementation, will be made available.
