Mongolia’s CODATA National Committee functions by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS).
Chair:
Avid Budeebazar – Secretary General, Presidium`s Office, Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Vice Chair:
Uuganbaatar Dulamragchaa – Director, Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technologies, Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Secretary:
Sodjamts Enkhbat – Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technologies, Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Roles:
The Chair leads the committee, with the help of the Vice Chair, and makes final decisions of the committee on activities, memberships, and governance. The Secretary works as the liaison between the National Committee and CODATA, and will keep the Chair and Vice Chair up-to-date with current CODATA events, activities, and decisions.
Recent activities:
- 28 September 2022: The Junior Assembly of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics Branch of MAS; the Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technology of MAS; and the National Statistics Office of Mongolia hosted the event, ‘Evolution of Data’ to distribute data science knowledge. Speakers included Academician Sangaa D., Chairman of the Junior Assembly of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics Branch of MAS; Dr. Uuganbaatar D., Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technology of MAS; and Giri Prakash, Director of ARM Data Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, U.S.A.; with Otgonsuvd B., Head of Department of Information Technology; Sodjamts E., Researcher; and Researcher Khajidmaa B., all of the Institute of Mathematics and Digital Technology of MAS. They were joined by speakers Dr. Simon Hodson, Executive Director of CODATA; and Ariunbold Sh., Head of Population and Social Statistics Department, and Baasan D., Senior Statistician, Labor Force Survey Section, both of the National Statistics Office of Mongolia. Speakers covered data science, FAIR data, metadata, Open data and Open science with some examples of projects from the Mongolian context.
- 28 June 2021: A webinar was held with the Mongolian Academy of Sciences’ scientists and researchers on the theme of Big Data Management with four speakers talking on the topics of “Open Science and Open Data”, “Data Science and Big Data”, “Open Data Concept and Science Data Management” and “Introduction of the ISC and CODATA.”
