Description:

The GOSC initiative aims to encourage cooperation, alignment and interoperability among Open Science infrastructure initiatives globally.  The GOSC DataIO WG seeks to explore, document and encourage good practice for the interoperability of data and metadata. To this end the WG will work with Case Studies from GOSC and elsewhere to understand challenges, successes and emerging solutions.

In these two briefing events, the GOSC DataIO WG Co-Chairs will present a Case Study Template and discuss how it can be used (in a structured interview); two worked examples will also be presented (from ARDC and Geosciences Australia and from a Notre Dame/South Bed Study on Lead Poisoning). The purpose of the session is to invite colleagues from the DataIO WG, and from outside the WG, to undertake a case study on an appropriate data project or data set. The existing GOSC subject-area case studies are particularly welcome but the activity is not limited to these.  Our objective is to better understand developments around the world so that we can ultimately develop recommendations on good practice for addressing (data and metadata) interoperability.
