International Data Week is a global conference which is taking place in Africa for the first time… It’s exciting and dynamic.” Dr Simon Hodson, Executive Director, CODATA introduces International Data Week 2018.

International Data Week (IDW 2018) will be held on 5-8 November 2018 in Gaborone, Botswana. Hosted by the Botswana Open Science and Open Data Forum, and co-organized by the ICSU Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), the ICSU World Data System (WDS) and the Research Data Alliance (RDA), IDW 2018 will bring together data professionals and researchers from all disciplines and from all parts of the globe.

 
The organizing committee of International Data Week 2018 and the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Research Science and Technology are pleased and honoured to announce that the Botswana President – His Excellency Mokgweetsi Masisi – will formally open International Data Week and will deliver the opening keynote address for the week-long conference beginning on 5 November 2018 in Gaborone, Botswana.”
