SciDataCon 2021: Data Privacy
Protecting your privacy before, during and after the SciDataCon 2021 series of virtual events is important to us. Below you can find information about personal data collected and processed. We process personal data in compliance with EU law (GDPR) and all other legal regulations that may apply.
Cooperation
The event is organised by CODATA and WDS via use of CODATA Zoom licenses. CODATA is therefore the primary controller of the data in terms of the GDPR. Participant’s data will be shared also with the event co-organiser, WDS.
Registration details for this event and your personal data are stored on the servers of Zoom. Please take note of the data protection notice of the online conferencing provider: https://explore.zoom.us/docs/en-us/privacy.html.
Registration for the event
When you register for this event organised via the Zoom Meetings interface, the following data will be stored for the logistical and administrative transaction of this event, for inquiries, and for communication on the Zoom conferencing platform.
Data collected:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Organisation (affiliation)
- Registration details (i.e. the actual session booked) Optional data:
- Chat messages posted to the online conferencing platform chat.
- Audio and video recording of your participation in the session.
Personal data
The personal data will be used only for the purpose of organizing the event and will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed for the follow-up of the event.
The conference session/workshop will be recorded for the purpose of documentation and communication. SciDataCon 2021 participants will be seen and heard in these recordings if they decide to switch on their camera and audio, which will be turned-off by default upon start of the meeting. Participants will be able to ask questions using the chat functionality. The organisers are planning to publish the recordings on Vimeo and reserve the right of sharing them on their respective websites and social media accounts.
Emails
When you provide us with your email address during the registration process, it will be used by the event organisers to only correspond with you in relation to your participation in the event.
Your rights
You have the right to demand cost-free access to all personal data held about you. You also have the right to demand that your personal data has to be corrected, blocked or deleted.
You can revoke your consent to the processing of personal data at any time, taking effect from the time of revocation. Note that this may result in revocation of your regiatration, if requested prior to the event.
