The 2nd Scientific Data Conference Held in Lanzhou, China
The 2nd Scientific Data Conference, sponsored by Chinese National Committee for CODATA 
(CODATA-China), was held in Lanzhou, China on 26-27 August, 2015. More than 450 experts, scholars and students from over 100 units participated this conference.
Under the national strategy of Internet plus and One Belt and One Road in the big data era, this conference aims to discuss the scientific data sharing and its basic theory, method, technology, management and application, to share innovative applications of resource environment, ecological medicine, information consumption, space astronomy, medical and health, to explore innovative scientific activity model driven by scientific big data, to serve the construction of Silk Road economic belt.
The conference had 2 plenary sessions and 10 breakout sessions, lasting for 2 days. There were 5 keynotes and 3 invited reports. Academician Guo Huadong, Academician XU Zongben, Academician Ge Changchun, Prof. Kwan-Liu Ma, Prof. LI Wenqing were invited as keynote speakers, the keynotes focused on the scientific problems and challenges of scientific bid data, scientific big data and Silk Road economic belt, scientific data visualization.
Scholars reached broad consensus through extensive discussion and hold the view that scientific research entered the big data era,the basic theory, method and key technology of scientific data collection, management, analysis, processing, sharing, mining, calculation and application need to be established as soon as possible, which provide guarantee for technological innovation, industry transformation and social development. At the breakout session of CODATA task group on data citation, they announced that China Scientific Data was approved by State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of PRC and scholars appealing to promote the achievements of scientific data publishing and data citation and its research and practice.
At the closing ceremony, Prof. LI Jianhui, secretary-general of CODATA-China, made a concluding speech and announced the 3rd Scientific Data Conference will be held in Shanghai in September, 2016 .
