Dangerous humid heat in southern West Africa about 4\u00b0C hotter due to climate change<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The southern coastal zone of Western Africa \u2013 also called the Guinea zone \u2013 experienced abnormal early season heat in February 2024. A combination of high temperatures and relatively humid air resulted in area average Heat Index values of about 50\u00b0C, which is classified to be in the \u2018danger\u2019 level that is associated with a high risk of heat cramps and heat exhaustion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
