The summer of extremes \u2013 in China as in Europe \u2013 has underlined the importance of the WMO community\u2019s commitment to Early Warning and Early Action and reinforced the need for the ongoing campaign to provide Early Warnings for All in the next five years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tonkintaylor.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-ajdjkhy-elluytuz-t\/\">Predicting\u2014and preparing for\u2014the worst<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nClimate change is making extreme weather events more frequent and intense. So improving local risk prediction\u2014and studying how extreme weather could affect renewable energy systems\u2014will be critical to building resilience into vulnerable communities and the growing green energy sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tonkintaylor.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-ajdjkhy-elluytuz-i\/\">Climate risk assessment needs urgent improvement<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nExisting constraints in current climate risk assessments make them inappropriate to effectively assess the true exposure of society and businesses to climate-related risk. Using the key constraints to guide a conceptual framework, we identify four cross-cutting and inter-related critical paths for improvement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/tonkintaylor.createsend1.com\/t\/t-l-ajdjkhy-elluytuz-d\/\">Future of Rail | How rail industry is fighting back against extreme weather events<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nIncreased frequency of extreme weather events is taking its toll on rail infrastructure but the industry is collaborating with academia to strengthen assets against future conditions. Britain\u2019s rail infrastructure is put under intense pressure every day as it carries millions of people to and from their destinations. Technological advances enable us to better understand nature and society. However, despite these advances, challenges remain for Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data for decision-making. The COVID-19 pandemic is a good example of how data FAIRness saved lives.
