\nHigh-impact weather events \u2013 floods, storms, cyclones \u2013 threaten human life and property, as well as affecting the economy and inflicting signi\ufb01cant societal hazards. Being able to predict these events accurately, and with sufficient lead times, enables people to prepare for them.
